Following a break of almost 20 years since the previous edition, Darach working with the Irish Government via Prime Minister’s office and national tourism agency, re-launched the 5-day professional Tour of Ireland in August 2007 with a 2.1 UCI ranking.
With a global television broadcast secured, the event attracted the biggest riders and teams in the world. The global broadcast delivered a High Definition postcard for Irish tourism and the public supported the event in huge numbers.
In the 2009 edition, the event partnered with the Livestrong charity to host the Livestrong Global Cancer Summit in Dublin, following Lance Armstrong’s participation in the race.
