The oakbrew story.

1987-88

Management of WINNING and TRIATHLETE UK titles and Tour de France Weekly. Promoted Warburton’s Big Bread Triathlon on ITV – the first ever televised triathlon in the UK.

1989-1994

Darach McQuaid rode with Emerald C.R.C (IRL) and Club Cyclisme Nogent sur l’Oise (FRA) teams and Irish National Team member, winning the 1990 Shay Elliott Memorial.

1995-2000

Launched MBG; the Official Guide for UCI Grundig Mountain Bike World Cup.

1995-1996
Launched Official Guide for the Tour DuPont (USA).

1995-1996

Launched the RTÉ Television Official Viewers Guide annual magazine.

1996-2000

Partnered with A.S.O. to launch first ever Official Tour de France Guide; French, German, English editions.

1996

Launched Official Guide for the Tour of China.

1997-1998

Published MBG; Official Guide Mountain Bike World Championships, Chateau d'Oex, Switzerland and & Mont-St. Anne, Quebec.

 

2000-2005

OLN / NBC Sports – leading consultant on Tour de France activations for official US broadcaster.

2007-2009

Launched the UCI 2.1 Tour of Ireland.

2011

Delivered a successful bid for Richmond VA to host the 2015 UCI Road Cycling World Championships.

2011

Brought together the winning bidders (WMG and Slattery) to sell the naming rights of Lansdowne Road, the oldest international rugby stadium in the world.

2012

Delivered a successful bid for Ireland to host the Big Start of the 2014 Giro d’Italia.

2014
Organised the “best Big Start yet” in over 100 years of Giro d’Italia history.

2015

Launched official Giro Big Start Legacy event – the Gran Fondo Giro d’Italia NI. 5,000 participants on closed roads.

2016

Joined GreenEDGE Cycling,
Mens & Womens UCI WT team as Commercial Advisor.

 

2020
Assumed role as Chairman, GreenEDGE Cycling.

2021
Negotiated and created the AlUla partnership with GreenEDGE Cycling.

2022

Organised Chasing Rainbows – A Miguel Soro art exhibition at the UCI Road World Championships, Wollongong, Australia.

2023

Augmented the AlUla x GreenEDGE partnership to naming rights level.

Organised the first ever AlUla Cycling Symposium to plan 10-year strategic plan to develop cycling in AlUla.

A SPECIAL MENTION

During Darach’s many years involved in sports marketing, two partnerships stand out. Firstly with sister Ann in WINNING & Triathlete 1987/1988 and later setting up McQuaid Publishing together 1994-2000.

Secondly with David Kalman, setting up and running Shadetree Sports together from 2005-2017.
